Interview today for new job. Hopefully, all goes well.

Had the -weirdest- dream last night. I was writing a retelling of Arthurian Legend with ...dinosaurs in, called "T.Rex Quondam, T.Rex Futurus". And I had to sign a million King Arthur the T-rex plushies.

I'm not sure what that says about my brain.

New Computer!
I have one and a half hours left at work. Then I will be home, and playing on my shiny new computer. Well, new to me. The Specs are light years beyond any I've owned, so I'm pretty happy.

And I had enough of my income refund left to get several games. Which I may be playing. If I'm scarce online, it's because I'm being a Jedi in KOTOR.

Well, my new schedule looks surprisingly like my old one. I just swap my two days off from Monday-Tuesday to Thursday-Friday. 10:30-8 M-W, off Th F, and similar weekend shifts to what I had before, as well.

Anyone want to hook a guy up with Supernatural and VM tapes?

Good news, bad news.
So I go into work yesterday, and my manager asks me something weird.

"Say, what's your background in computers"

I say "Well, I took a little over a year of classes to get my A+ certification that also covered the basics of security+, but I don't have either cert yet." (Because I was out of work at the time and couldn't afford them)

"That's okay. Come here and take this test, would you?"

So he hands me this basic computer skills test with a few cellphone questions.

And I look at it, and I take it, and I apparently do well enough taking a cold multiple choice test that I just got my ass promoted to Advanced Support.

It means a 4 percent raise, different (And possibly better) hours, a smaller queue, and not having to sell to people who are calling in to have their problems fixed.

It also means 2 weeks of training from 3:30 PM to Midnight, starting Monday.

Fortunately I was able to put in for vacation time tomorrow, so I'll have at least one weekend day before I Start. But I will be scarce around the internets for those two weeks, as my schedule and class size largely precludes me from being able to do jack, possibly up to and including checking LJ. I've got to figure out new bus routes to work, too. Afterwards, I may be around more, depending on the schedule I get. So the bad news is very, very minor.

Seriously, WTF.

Can I have a year where no relatives are hospitalized and in danger of dying? PLEASE?

Now my uncle Jim (Mom's saner brother) is in ICU with blood on his fucking brain because they increased the dosage on his heart medicine. He may need surgery.

It's even close to the same time of year that my grandmother and grandfather both got sick. If we work our way around to May and someone dies, I'm going to have to have words with...somebody. I dunno. So I may be headed up to New Jersey soon, depending on how things go.

At work, 30 minutes before shift start. Today is going to be weird, largely because I'm starting at the usual time (10:30), but only working until 4:30 as opposed to 8. Four, for a reference, is about when I normally break free to take lunch. So I've got to remember to go to lunch at least an hour before then. I may be posting more today as well, depending on call volume. Watch this space for possible SPlendour Falls bible stuff.
